OUR STORY
It all started with a passing discussion that our founder, Todd Davis, had with a business colleague who talked about a charitable project she had created to repurpose wedding flowers into bedside bouquets for hospice patients in the Milwaukee, WI area. This wonderful concept aligned closely with Todd’s lifelong belief that “everyone deserves flowers” as well as with his regular interaction with homebound seniors while delivering Meals on Wheels. And before we knew it, Stems For Seniors was born!
We work with brides in the greater Columbus, OH area to repurpose their wedding flowers into individual bouquets (a single wedding can produce anywhere from 30-100 bouquets) which are then delivered to local Meals on Wheels recipients who are surprised with a lovely arrangement of flowers along with their daily meal delivery, to Kobacker House hospice care, and to Senior Living, Memory Care, and Assisted Living facilities throughout central Ohio. These deliveries always bring joy, smiles, and sometimes even tears to the recipients and to those making the deliveries alike! We also deliver bouquets to Kobacker House hospice center to provide comfort and happiness to patients, families and loved ones during their stays there.
Stems For Seniors is a family affair! Since we started in 2017, the Davis family (Todd, Nancy, Meggie, Luke) has been involved in picking up flowers at wedding venues, designing bouquets, dropping off the finished products to the Meals On Wheels central dispatch, and even to delivering flowers on our own Meals On Wheels delivery routes. We are thrilled that so many beautiful wedding flowers, that would otherwise go unused after the wedding, are brightening the lives of those in need in our community! We feel blessed to be able to contribute, in our own small way to spreading joy through the gift of flowers!
